Excessive Heat Warning, August 25, 2024

District 75 parents and guardians:

With excessive heat forecasted for the next couple of days, our schools are taking precautions to keep our students safe and comfortable.

These proactive steps include:

  • Limiting outdoor activities and remaining inside for recess, physical education classes and any after-school activities as needed.
  • Ensuring bus windows are open to maximize airflow and ventilation.
  • Monitoring children and staff for heat-related symptoms and illnesses, in addition being mindful of those with medical conditions.
  • Encouraging both staff and students to stay well-hydrated.

We ask that as parents/guardians you help support our efforts in these ways:

  • Please send your students to school with a refillable water bottle to encourage hydration.
  • Please have your students wear lightweight, loose clothing.

As always, our priority is the safety of our students and staff during this period of extreme weather.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kevin Myers
Superintendent
School Districts 75 and 120
